HILL Tapan or Bina Karya is the habitat of endemic strains of pine wood Kerinci. Pius Wood sap is the raw material for making batik, while the wood is exported to many European markets.
The conservation of wildlife in the forests of Bukit Tapan Nature Reserve is a protected by law is the elephant (Elephas maximus sumatrensis), tapir (Tapirus indicus), gibbon (Hylobates syndactylus); Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrensis); hornbills (Buceros rhinoceros); and pheasants (Argusianus argus)
